Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 egg yolks optional, for custard base
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Heat milk and cream in a saucepan until steaming.
  • Whisk egg yolks with sugar, temper with warm milk mixture.
  • Cook until thickened (if using custard method).
  • Stir in orange juice, zest, vanilla, and salt. Chill thoroughly.
  • Churn in an ice cream maker or freeze in a pan, stirring occasionally.
  • Freeze until firm (about 6–8 hours).
