Description

Warm, fluffy muffins infused with chai spices, juicy pears, and topped with a crunchy oatmeal streusel. Perfect for cozy mornings or fall-inspired snacks.

Ingredients

Muffin Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ¾ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • ¼ tsp each: cardamom, allspice, cloves

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1¼ cups peeled, chopped pears (Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou)

Oatmeal Streusel Topping

  • ¾ cup rolled oats

  • ½ cup whole wheat flour

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 1½ tsp cinnamon

  • ½ cup melted butter

Optional Vanilla Honey Butter

  • ½ cup softened butter

  • 2 tbsp honey

½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line muffin tin with paper liners.

  2. Make streusel: Combine oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Chill.

  3. Mix dry ingredients: Combine both flours, baking powder, sugar, spices, and salt.

  4. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, oil, egg, and vanilla.

  5. Combine wet and dry mixtures, then fold in chopped pears.

  6. Fill muffin cups ¾ full, top with streusel.

  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Serve warm with optional vanilla honey butter.

Notes

  • Pears should be ripe but firm and finely chopped for best texture.

  • Streusel topping can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.

  • Muffins freeze well for up to 3 months.

You can use a store-bought chai spice blend as a shortcut.
