Description

A rich, moist chocolate loaf infused with refreshing peppermint flavor. Perfect for the holiday season, this bread makes a delightful dessert or edible gift.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

  • Crushed candy canes for topping (optional)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in eggs, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract.

  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the butter mixture, mixing just until combined.

  • Fold in mini chocolate chips (if using).

  • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

  • Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

 

  • Top with crushed candy canes or a light glaze if desired.

Notes

  • Add a simple glaze of powdered sugar and milk for extra sweetness.

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
