Description

A festive red, white, and blue trifle layered with fluffy cake, creamy filling, and fresh berries—perfect for celebrating Independence Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 angel food cake, cubed (store-bought or homemade)

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 lb strawberries, hulled and sliced

  • 1 pint blueberries

  • 23 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, for berries)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add confectioners’ sugar and vanilla; mix well.

  • In another chilled bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form; fold into cream cheese mixture.

  • Slice strawberries; toss berries separately with sugar if desired.

  • Layer in a trifle bowl: cake cubes, cream mixture, berries. Repeat layers, ending with berries on top.

  • Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free cake for a dietary-friendly version.

  • Stabilize whipped cream with 1 tbsp powdered sugar if serving outdoors.

  • Raspberries or blackberries can be added for variety.
