Description

This Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese is a sweet and savory twist on the classic. Soft Hawaiian rolls are layered with melty cheese and grilled until golden and crispy – perfect for a quick lunch, snack, or party appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pack (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls (e.g., King’s Hawaiian)

  • 810 slices of cheddar cheese (or any melty cheese)

  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened or melted)

  • Optional: garlic powder, sliced ham, or tomato slices

Instructions

  • Prep Rolls: Slice the entire sheet of Hawaiian rolls horizontally (don’t separate them individually).

  • Layer Cheese: Place cheese slices evenly across the bottom half. Add optional fillings like ham if desired.

  • Top & Press: Place the top half back on and gently press down.

  • Butter: Brush the tops with butter. Sprinkle garlic powder for extra flavor (optional).

  • Grill: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Grill each side for 3–4 minutes, pressing slightly, until golden and cheese is melted.

  • Serve: Slice into individual sandwiches and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a mix of cheeses (mozzarella, Swiss, gouda) for more flavor.

  • Can be baked in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes as an alternative.

  • Great for meal prep – reheats well in a toaster oven.
