-
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
-
3/4 cup milk
-
1/8 tsp black pepper

4 cups cooked green beans (or 2 cans, drained)

1 1/3 cups French fried onions (divided)
-
Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for a cheesy twist)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a mixing bowl, combine mushroom soup, milk, black pepper, and half of the fried onions.
-
Stir in cooked green beans (and cheese if using).

Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.
-
Top with remaining fried onions and bake 5 more minutes until golden brown.
Notes
-
Make ahead: Assemble 1 day ahead and refrigerate. Add onions before final bake.
-
Green beans: Fresh, frozen (blanched), or canned all work well.
-
Soup substitute: For homemade, use a creamy béchamel with mushrooms.
-
Add cheese for a richer flavor, or sautéed mushrooms for added texture.
