A flaky, buttery Danish-inspired pastry filled with spiced apples and drizzled with a sweet vanilla glaze. Perfect for cozy mornings or holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
For the Dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

½ cup sour cream
For the Apple Filling:

2 medium apples, peeled and diced

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon lemon juice
For the Vanilla Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk (or more for desired consistency)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions

Make the Dough:
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in sour cream. Form into a ball, wrap, and chill for 1 hour. -
Prepare the Filling:
Combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Set aside. -
Assemble the Kringle:
Roll dough into a rectangle (about 10×14″). Place apple filling down the center. Fold sides over, pinch to seal. Shape into an oval if desired. -
Bake:
Place on a baking sheet. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.

Make the Glaze:
Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over cooled kringle.

You can use puff pastry as a shortcut.
