Description

Chewy and moist apple brownies made with fresh apples, brown sugar, and warm spices. A cozy fall dessert that’s simple, comforting, and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (about 2 cups, peeled & chopped)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

  • Pinch of salt

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.

  • Peel, core, and chop apples into small cubes.

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  • In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.

  • Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.

  • Stir in apples (and nuts, if using).

  • Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 35–40 minutes until golden.

  • Cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Use tart apples (like Granny Smith) for balance.

  • Add caramel drizzle for extra indulgence.

  • Substitute part of the butter with applesauce for a lighter version.
